I personally thought that #5 cleared up a lot of problems. I like how we got to see the early Black Glove with the reference to John Mayhew as the man Marsha was supposed to marry also most likely Brother John that we see towards the end. I'm also assuming that Brothers Simon was Simon Hurt also a member of the Black Glove; this really shows that Grant is coming full circle with this story of his and making the connections throughout his many years on this one overlapping story arc (now if only we knew what was in that casket). What I got from it is that Bruce arrived at Vanishing Point after he used the time travel device at the end of #5. Then that thing that went on at Vanishing Point with Superman, GL, Booster, and Rip happened after this and then Bruce showed up at the very end of Return #5 then leading into TIme Masters telling us what happens while Bruce is in the present after the Vanishing Point incident and the "Time Masters" are lost in time not realizing Bruce went into the present. Essentially Time Masters: Vanishing Point is supposed to be the tie from The Return of Bruce Wayne to 2011's Flashpoint (which I speculate because of the Time Masters: Vanishing Point solicitations for November and December and the presence of the Reverse Flash on the cover of #5). I would have preferred it if Grant had made this a little clearer if this is in fact the truth but I guess it makes sense because if they didn't have Time Masters: Vanishing Point until after the destruction of Vanishing Point it would have thrown the schedules off. Wait but what does Grant care about schedules it's not like he pays attention to them. The Robin has left the nest.

Overall it was not one of my favorite stories. I'm glad it is over and Bruce is back. I was not a fan of Final Crisis and the "Return" was too much in that vain.

I agree. The return was a bit heady and a little too avant garde for my taste

I really enjoyed it--it was a lot of fun, seeing Bruce in all these different situations, and it also said a lot of interesting stuff about the character. Yeah, it had a lot to do with Final Crisis, but I actually really loved Final Crisis, so...yeah.

I like the Return alot more the second time I read it. Morrison is always better when you can read his work in one shot and not have to wait month to month for each chapter. This week I wanted to read every Morrison Batman story and see If I can make sense of things. I started with the "Black Case Book" which is a re-print of the stories from the 1950's that inspired Morrison in RIP. It really helped to read that. I am almost to RIP today. The stuff makes so much more sense the more you read it.

Comicvine.com actually has a series of articles that tries to make sense of everything its called Putting the Pieces Together I've read part 1 of the articles, that's all that is out currently and the writer does a really good job of breaking it all down.

I'm going to have to do that as well. When the last issue of RIP came out, I read the whole arch in one sitting , and enjoyed it a lot more. I think I'm definitely going to have to do that for the "Return of Bruce Wayne". I didn't enjoy that series as much as Morrison's other Batman work.
