PostSubject: Questions or Comments for PODCAST recording   Questions or Comments for PODCAST recording I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 02, 2010 12:15 am

I saw the post where Gary was wanting people to ask stuff for the podcast 30 minutes before the recording began but I really couldn't think of anything at the moment. Actually I receive text alerts for the GKO twitter page and I think I was gone somewhere when I got that text. So maybe post those questions here? Just a thought. May be a bad idea 'casue instead of being answered on the podcast like it's meant to be someone may answer it on here as a reply. Really, I just didn't have enough time to think of a good question for you guys. But I do have one for all of you...

For Gary, Claudie and Cory (where's he been? not been in the last 2 or 3 podcasts) how did each of you get involved with Bob and Gotham Knights Online? For Bob, what gave you the inspiration to create GKO aside from the obvious "Batman's awesome" attitude we all seem to have. I'm really looking for that moment where you thought to your self "Yep. I'm gonna do it. I've been thinking of it and never doing anything but dammit I'm doing it this time!" lol.

Oh and Gary, I've been 'Following' the user God_Damn_Batman on Twitter for a while now. I get text alerts from that user as well and they're all really funny. Nice to get one of those while I'm at work and have a laugh at it.

I won't answer any of your stuff now, 'cause we'll save it until Sunday when we'll probably record. But I will say I agree that "God_Damn_Batman" is awesome; I try to follow him on the GKO twitter, but I guess Cory thinks it's annoying 'cause he keeps un-following it lol. But I thought it was a neat little thing to mention in the 'cast.

If you like that sorta thing, or any of you do, and haven't heard of him before check out "Drunk Hulk" on twitter (I'm not sure if that's exactly how the name is typed, but you can probably find it if you just search). He's pretty choice too.

PostSubject: Re: Questions or Comments for PODCAST recording   Questions or Comments for PODCAST recording I_icon_minitimeTue Sep 14, 2010 9:52 pm

Hi Guys,

I seriously, seriously love your show! I've been listening for the better part of the year and from the beginning have thoroughly enjoyed the show. I'm a huge fan of Batman and have been since I was a very small boy, back in 1977. I have a fairly decent knowledge of the character and related family characters that range from the Adam West TV series, to the late 70's cartoon, to the Superfriends and Super Powers cartoons, to the Comic Books, to the movies (some great some horrendous), and so many other little media items.

I really want to commend you guys on the show and the way you all work together. Two guys and a girl is a great combo for the cast. I was actually one of the first to do Comic Podcasting way back in 2005 on a little show called Comic Talk Cafe. Unfortuately, the show fizzled out because the host was just not able to find time to do the recording, and as he also took care of the technical aspects of posting the show online, it pretty much ended. I do miss it.

I will share just one piece of constructive advice, and I don't mean to be unfriendly or mean, but,...hmmm,...how can I be diplomatic,...your original trio was perfect! You all complemented one another very well. No one of you dominated the other and you really seemed to share the hosting duties almost equally. Whether you agreed or disagreed with each other, you all really showed respect for one another and never trampled all over one another, when one of you were sharing a thought or opinion.

Unfortunately, your newest co-host,...he really tends to dominate the show, continually talking over others and showing what equates to a lack of respect for those that are talking. Whether intended or done obliviously, it really detracts from the integrity of the show. It seems that even when a question is specifically addressed to one of the other co-hosts, he has to interupt whoever's talking, even if that person is making a very important point, and just take over the conversation. And it REALLY detracts from the show and it makes the show so much less enjoyable.

Again, I don't mean to be negative, or hurtful, or attacking, but I really enjoy your show, or at least I did, and I feel like if things continue as they have, I may have to give it up,...and I SO don't want to! Again, my 2 cents, but I hope my words are constructive and not taken as a complete attack.

Take Care Guys and Gal!

I haven't listened to #40 yet so if you're talking about Dane I haven't heard him. But if you're talking about Matt then yes I agree. Matt makes great points and has a knowledge of Batman like everyone else. His point of views are sometimes much more unique than the others but he does trample over everyone's opinions when someone else is talking. I'm sure he's not doing it intentionally and it seems like it's really just his personality. But it can get kind of annoying... I like him but sometimes he's pretty over bearing and talks over everyone.

Well if it is me (I'm Dane by the way) then I apologize and I'll try not to interrupt in the future but if it's Matt I will have to disagree. Matt, while he does have a lot to say and tries to add in his words, I feel he does it in a respectful matter and that he does offer brilliant insight and thought to the given conversation. What Matt does perfectly is offer up his thoughts and ideas which in it's most basic form is the basis of the idea of a podcast. If he did interrupt and if he had nothing to offer up I could see a problem, but he does the complete opposite and I don't see the problem with him at all. Before I was on the podcast (and I mean this in a completely hetero way) I actually looked forward to hearing Matt and his insight and hilarious comments, so I don't really think Matt is a problem

I don't really want to comment either way, out of respect for my podcasting companions, but I get what you're saying and I'll see if we can address that before the next 'cast.

I just listened to #40 and Dane, I'm sure it's not you he was talking about. But after listening to it I have to confirm my initial comments. While I love his input he (seemingly unintentionally) talks over everyone. I actually had this thought when Matt first started doing the podcasts but I tried to ignore it and Scorpion has confirmed my thoughts. Someone will be talking and saying something that I'm interested in hearing and Matt interrupts and I don't hear who was initially trying to talk and it's very annoying to listen to that. I'm sure Matt doesn't do it on purpose but it's kinda rude to everyone else. Anyone who has done a podcast with him may not agree but you're not the listener. When someone's making a point and the listener is trying to hear what they're saying and someone else (loudly) chimes in and interrupts it's quite aggravating to listen to. Matt vocally over powers everyone 'cause he's so avid on getting his opinions across. Which is good in a way but seriously, wait your turn! Everyone's opinion is valued on there and Matt if you're reading this, I'm seriously not trying to insult you in anyway man. I think you're a cool guy and I think you'd be pretty fun to hang around with but you do speak over people very very often during the podcasts. It's not fun for the listeners to hear that. Hurts the podcast, it truly does.

Yeah, Dane, as you said in the other thread you barely even spoke with your hangover and all, so it definitely isn't you they're talking about. Like I said, I don't want to make this a public thing and call out anyone on the staff here, but we'll discuss it before our next record since it's apparently become an issue for the listeners. Thanks for the input, Garret and Scorpion!

Well, crap. I apologize, I didn't mean to blow this up into a huge issue or anything but I really look forward to listening to the podcasts. I actually get kind of excited. It's really my only Batman outlet with other people... this whole site is pretty much my Batman thoughts but it's just aggravating to listen to sometimes. Again... Matt... I like you. You just have a habit for speaking over people during discussions and debates.

Oh, don't worry Garrey - I was just covering my own ass and making sure I stayed neutral myself. You can say whatever you want. And it's a good thing you guys are saying something, because otherwise we wouldn't know you had an issue with it.

Yeah, just to add my thoughts again, I agree with Scarygarrey,...I don't mean to beat Matt up or anything,...it's just that I love your show, and I too get excited when I see a new episode is posted! I actually get a little bummed out if too many days have passed and a new one hasn't been posted. But, I know how that happens,...believe me,...it was one of the killers of Comic Talk Cafe. Anyway,...again, I don't wanna be a jerk or simply attack anyone, I just want Gotham Knights to keep bein' one of the BEST Podcasts out there! In truth, right now, it's the only one I listen to, and I used to listen to like 5 or 6 over the past few years. Take care Guys and Gal!

Oh,...and Dane, I was actually looking forward to hearing a little more from you,...LOL!!!!

Aww you didn't like me!?! Didn't like what I said, sorry to let you down, that's what alcohol does to you. Like I told the guys, I don't even know how I got home, I literally woke up next to my car not in my car but lying outside the car. So kids, the lesson here is don't drink and podcast I guess.

I actually do the opposite hahaha I find it makes me a bit more fun and talkative. But I guess the better lesson is don't podcast with a nasty hangover.

Can't wait to do one with ya on a good day though, Dane, you seem like a cool dude.

Hey all, thanks for the comments and your positive approch to posting. I know how heated these thing's can get. Like all of us, Matt get's very excited and passionate about Batman (we all do), and like many of us, it our only chance to talk with other people who love comics and Batman without getting knocked up about it.

I'll make sure the talk is bottomed out a little more amoungst everyone to ensure we don't lose any of our listeners....

Hey Scorpion and ScaryGarrey,

First off don't worry guys I don't feel like your attacking me, it's a genuine complaint and I think it has Merritt. Your right, I have interrupted people before, I do not do this to be mean or rude, I'm new at this pod-casting stuff as well.

This has 2 parts, so there are 2 types of interruptions first.. It is very hard to judge when a person is going to talk or not talk, this is going to continue happening on the podcast..we all do it. We actually edit out alot of dead space, because sometimes we wait for someone to talk and they never do. Then sometimes two people talk at the same time. Just a normal occurance, we can't see each other and don't know when the other is going to talk.

The 2nd type though I take full blame for. Sometimes I have interrupted Claudie, Dane or Gary mid-sentence to chime in, I apologize, I get excited when they mention something that sparks my interests and I feel like I have to comment on it right at that second. My bad, I'm not trying to be rude or overbearing, and If I have been or was I apologize. I will try much harder to let everyone have their say and finish their thought, because you two our right that's rude. I hope you give us another shot Scorpion and don't stop listening just because of me. As for the comments on Dane, I thinks he's awesome and adds a different point of view that we need. However I agree, Dane speak up and speak your mind my friend Smile I won't interrupt you any more as long as you don't be so shy Smile

Hey I was just wondering if you guys could actually start talking about Time Masters: Vanishing Point. I mean it is relating to Batman it is "The Search for Batman" even though he is already back in the present according to Return #5*.

*You can take a look at the topic Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne under the Batman Comics forum for my extremely long rant on the subject of Time Masters, The Return of Bruce Wayne, and Flashpoint.
The Robin has left the nest.

Hey guys just loved the Batman (1966) commentary laughed throughout the whole thing. I think the one thing that made it better is that I own all of the Batman movies so I'm able to sync them up on my computer and I can follow exactly what you guys are saying and i can catch what you guys are talking about like Robin's R being backwards.

Glad u liked the commentary - wasn't sure if anyone would actually download and listen. We're recording the 1989 commentary this weekend. Should be a blast...
