Everyone remembers the red symbol, the futuristic neo-Gotham city, the old, reclusive Brucie, Ace the Bat-dog returns!(kinda), and the insane rave music.

Batman Beyond Wallpa10

It was the second Batman cartoon I saw. I would rush off the bus from school and immediately turn on the tv. And wait for this show to start up. It was cool. It was new. It was something I thought could never happen. (This was before I read comics.)
A new Batman? Bruce old? Alone? Who's that dog? What happened to Gotham? It was fine looking last year. Hah!

This show was hip and new. It was great. I loved the feel it gave to bat world. To me, it was my favorite tv show; before I stayed up past my bed time and discovered Adult Swim and a whole new era of my life unfolds. . . .

But to stop the random, unorganized chatter, how did you feel about BB? And do you think making it into a comic was a good idea?

I think it was. It definitely updated it. I felt lost when the show ended. It definitely was a treat.

I loved the tv show to me it is right up there with TAS. but as for the comic I didn't care for the story too much but the art is what shone through for me. But overall the comic was alright I just didn't like how it wrapped itself up.

I loved the cartoon...like you, Fawks, I remember watching it almost every day. And I remember the premiere too, and it looking so cool and exciting and I couldn't wait for it. I loved the tie-ins with Static Shock and Justice League too, some of my favorite eps of both series. I think part of the reason I liked it so much was because it could be me; a young kid chosen by an old Bruce Wayne to take over for him. Plus the style was just awesome...I just loved it in general. Until like you said I went from Toonami to watching AS every night haha.

And I love the comic; I really dug the reintroduction of the character in Superman/Batman, I liked how they updated it while keeping it the same old universe we all knew and loved, and it has SO MANY REFERENCES to the show, it's great. I kinda agree with Dane, but to me the story is secondary to just seeing the characters and that world again. Granted, I haven't caught up yet since I've been so busy with the fraternity and school and whatnot, but I loved what I did read.

Yup. A lot of references. My boyfriend bought me season 1 of BB when I was sick to cheer me up, and since it's been years since I watched the show, I felt like I was little again. And a joker said in the show "Let's put a smile on that face." while taking out a knife, and correct me if I am wrong, but I jumped and thought, HEY, that line!
Haha.. And that one episode where they practically mocked the Fantastic Four. But it was a great show... It was much darker than the other Batman show I watched, the Animated Series. I was really absorbed in the show. I wish they did more than just a mini comic series..

The funny thing is, I was anticipated that series to come out, and I waited and waited, and when it finally came out, I have yet to buy an issue. But the story definitely seems different than what Terry faced in the show. I was just like, I just wanted to see the art updated really.

I loved Batman Beyond. I just got the complete season box set, and wacthed the episodes where Terry teams up with JLU, and they are definitely one of my favotite episodes. I didn't realize how many things they did in those episodes set up some stuff in Justice League. Like at the end of the second part where they tell Terry that Bruce was just a part timer, and how Superman says to Terry that he's more like Bruce than he knows. Which I think sets up Epilogue.

I hope one day they will do one of the direct to DVD movies based on Batman Beyond. I would like to see Blight return, and see what made Terry reveal his identity to Dana. If we don't get a movie, hopefully this stuff will happen in the new ongoing comics.

@Fawks I totally love the mini, and I hope the series is good too.

@J Knight5 I know, right?! The cast is still around, it'd be great to see a DC Animated Feature based on the Beyond universe. I'd love it!

Well the ongoing seems like a step in the right direction, it seemed for awhile that DC was very stand offish when it came to Beyond.

Yeah, I'm glad they've gotten a bit more relaxed with that stuff. Like how they brought Static into DCU proper...I'm glad. At least HE'S not on an alternate Earth...

Funny you mention Static, that was one of the first comics i ever picked up because I thought he looked cooler than Batman. In fact I think I got the first issue sitting around in my comic room. But I dont think it was printed by DC...

Dammit Gary now I'm going to HAVE TO go through my longboxes for 3 hours now! See what you've done!!!!!

I remember watching Static Shock on early morning Saturdays, then they moved it to after school on WB. I loved that show to death. He was my first experience to a black superhero. I also remember, I believe it was a JL episode, where Static came there and he was old, I was so wow'd. I had no concept of aging at that age either. Or cross-overs. Hah.

Haha sorry. I think it was under Milestone? It's a DC imprint whatever it was...But I think they brought the whole "Milestone Universe" within the DC fold recently, so that's how Static got here.

I know! He had crossovers where the Justice League came over to his show, and then there was that future one which I think was a crossover with Batman Beyond where he met future Static who had even more awesome powers...he had a bunch of crossovers, and I loved 'em all.

Ah, good times...

I never got into Static, or the Zeta Project. Those are the only two DCAU shows i never watched. I only watched the crossover episodes, but didn't get into the main characters enough to wacth those series regularly.

I never really got into Zeta Project, either. I watched one or two episodes, but I never really got into it except for that one Batman Beyond episode he was in.

How is that "Brave and the Bold" series on Cartoon Network, I believe it was that channel/station.. ? It looks extremely kiddie.. but is it worth watching?

Brave and the Bold is definitely worth watching. Especially the Batman Centric episodes. The one episode you have to watch is called "Chill Of The Night". Even if you can't get into the series because of it's lighter tone, no Batman fan should miss that one. I think it's one of the best animated Batman episodes out of any series. But most of the other episodes are really good too. They are funny, but they always treat Batman and the DC characters with respect. I highly recommend it.

I have NO idea how I missed this, but YES Virginia, check out BATB! It's a great cartoon. Like J Knight5 says, even if you don't like the "kiddie" attitude most episodes have (which Bob and I both love about the show, its sense of humor), then you will at least like "Chill of the Night", which feels like an episode of TAS at it's best. Plus, it's introduced me to a TON of obscure DC characters I would have barely known about otherwise, which is pretty cool.

Part of "Chill of the Night" was based off "The Untold Legend of The Batman" comics that I have read as a kid. The ending climax was almost straight from the comics, which is why I really loved this episode so much. I always hoped I would see an addaption of that story ever since I was a kid, and The Brave and the Bold" did awesome job of it.

Wow, I had no idea, I'm sure glad I asked! I was debating on buying the video game for, my, uh... extremely tough Wii. Hah.. I wish I had an Xbox over here. :c

But I'll definitely try and start becoming a regular watching the show. Does it air on Cartoon Network?
I see a lot of toys of the show at Walmart and Target, and it's really sparking my curiosity.

I do know that they featured the Bat-Woman in one of their episodes, which was great! She's a forgotten character...

Yeah it's on Cartoon Network on Fridays . The Bat -Woman episode was a real good one. Seeing Batman stuck inside Bat-Woman's body was really funny.

Also the Wii game was pretty good too.

That's what is great about it, is they use the characters people aren't as accustomed to or might have forgotten about. Like, even when they did a Green Lantern episode they used Guy Gardner.

You might be a little bummed about the Batwoman one though, because although she looks and acts like the original Bat-woman Kathy Kane, she's named Katrina Moldoff. Apparently, they had to change the name because DC was worried it might impact sales of their Batwoman comic coming out the month after.

I really must watch this show! I guess I have a date Friday with the television. Hopefully nothing will come up. I don't like watching shows that are in mid-way of being over or close to ending a season. I always feel lost! Like that one show, "Heroes"! Missed two weeks, and bam!, lost and the re-caps were so confusing and mysterious.

I understand why they would change her name. But, you think people would know she's a different character than Batwoman? They are mighty different in costumes. Yellow verses black? Ha.

Spoiler:
! Craziness...the show is really pretty adult sometimes.

Haha, don't worry, The Brave and the Bold is basically single episodes, with two parters every once and a while. I don't think anything has ever carried over from an episode...

Plus, Heroes was particularly bad as far as that goes...
