DC has announced their biggest comics event yet. Called the 'Brightest Day', the 26 issue series will begin right after the 'Blackest Night' series ends its fine run. So far, DC has confirmed that there will be a few tie-ins, which include a new Flash ongoing series.

To be honest, I did not really follow through with the 'Blackest Night' series. So, for those who did, I just want to find what you guys think about this new series announced by DC Comics. What do you think the story will be about and what do you expect to read and see in these comics.

Any thoughts or predictions?

Its good news that DC are finally building an ongoing event to rival Marvel recent run, its been done very well as the Green Lantern universe isn't not pulling the other titles in as much as Marvel would have done, so everyone has had a taste but not been forced to by all the tie-ins. DC are very good at this. Batman, Superman and Green Lantern are telling their own story which are all epic and focus on the fans of those titles as well.

I've only been reading the main BN storyline (with a few cross ref moments, but not enough to confuse you). It's building into a fantastic epic so it morphing into Brightest Day is exciting. Its carrying on the success DC are enjoying from this.

I only hope this the last GL epic and they look at another DC universe characther next?

I think Batman will get his turn very soon.

I've loved every bit of Blackest Night, and we can only hope that Brighest Day will be just as awesome. They haven't announced much yet, but I'm still psyched! I'm interested to see how they incorporate the return of the flash with the end of the Blackest Night too.

And as for a Batman epic, I feel like Batman's had a pretty good run the past few years. Sure, GL got the biggest event, but Batman still had RIP/BFTC/Reborn, and Superman even has had his Brainiac/New Krypton arc (which has been awesome, IMHO). I feel like they should give another "B-rated" character their due...one of the coolest things to come from GL Reborn/Sinestro Corps/Blackest Night is that it made GL cool, relevant, and popular again (without taking the cheap way and using the token black GL, John Stewart, like JLU did). Flash has even had some love, thanks to Flash Reborn/Blackest Night/Brighest Day. So, in my opinion, it'd be cool to give another character who hasn't been in the spotlight some sort of event. But that's just me...

I'm excited! I love the direction that they have taken the Green Lantern franchise! Geoff Johns is a genius, as is Peter Tomasi! I'm a little "scared" that it was announced Tomasi was leaving GL Corps and Tony Bedard will be taking over writing duties. I hope that Bedard does better writing than the boring drul that he put out in Batman Confidential ("Wrath Child" story)!

I'm assuming that Johns & Tomasi will be writing Brightest Day.....it should be awesome!
