| I really liked the Batman Beyond mini, but everyone else on the podcast today was disappointed by it. I was wondering...what did you all think?

| It was pretty crappy. The whole "Hush" character they did for it was stupid and made no sense, and almost all the interactions with Bruce had him be pretty much epitome of the "Bat-Dick" persona that we had just gotten away from over the past few years. I also thought their version of how Nightwing had to retire was really stupid and unnecessary.
Basically, it was completely worthless and a drastic drop in quality from the TV show, and I won't pick up the on-going unless I hear it's gotten a lot better or, more likely, they drop this horrible creative team.

| I liked the series. I thought the last two issues weren't as good as the first four, and I didn't really like the art, but I enjoyed the story overall. I do agree with Jay Kay that they made Bruce too much of jerk in this series. I think with the ongoing series they really need to move away from Terry and Bruce always arguing with each other.
I liked seeing Dick in this series. It's finally good to know what happened to him in the Batman Beyond universe. I don't think the reason why he had to retire was bad, I just think the way it happened was kind of dumb. I liked the main plot of Cadmus and Hush as well. It makes sense that they would try a few different methods to create their Batman before settling on what they did in the Epilogue episode. I also liked the new Catwoman, i hope she shows up again in the future.
Overall I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to the ongoing series.

See, that's what I thought too but the rest of the podcast hosts didn't seem to really agree. -Gary

-Gary It just feels really odd-- "We need to create a clone of Bruce Wayne so that the world will never be without a Batman--so to test out the project, let's make clones of his partner!" Wouldn't it have been more...streamlined to test it out by cloning Bruce? Hell, a clone Bruce I could MAYBE see working as a tragic villain.

| That's been done in an Elseworlds comic called the "League of Batmen" at least I think that is what it was called. It's about a futuristic world of Batman's son, with Talia Al Ghul, grown up as the Batman that fights Ra's Al Ghul and a clone of Bruce Wayne. | |

First of all dude, this is comics we're talking about - when does anything have to make sense? Secondly, this is the same woman (Waller) who injected a dude with nanites so his kids would be genetic sons of Batman and tried to have the child's parents killed to replicate what happened to Bruce. What I'm actually assuming is that they tried the "Project Batman Beyond", and when Terry's parents weren't killed and they abandoned that idea they figured if they couldn't have a child of Bruce they'd have the next best thing - a clone of his greatest protege. Plus, let's be honest here - they wanted the shock value of including Grayson, whom we haven't seen yet in the Batman Beyond Universe, mixed with the shock of a similar story to what happened to Tim in ROTJ, to expose newcomers to how crazy and adult the BB world can be while keeping it somewhat fresh for fans of the Beyond universe by showing Grayson in the future. Because, let's face it, it's all about selling the books. -Gary

| I think the mini series is just as bad as the animated series. I never liked Batman Beyond because it goes against the canon of Batman universe. I always asked what happen to Dick Grayson, Damion or Tim Drake as Robin? There are multiple people that could have been Batman in new series.
And this mini-series erases all the new Batman books with its storyline. Dick isn't Batman and Bruce makes horrible mistake and gets him injured.
I wish they did comic alot better then series. I wanted Kingdom come ending for Batman going out on top and being close to Superman and Wonder Woman.
The original Batman deserves so much better.

The original Batman deserves so much better. This is part of the DCAU still it does not reflect the main DCU since in Earth Zero Damian and Terry work together.

Also, they do explain what happens to Tim in the movie Return of the Joker, and the mini tells us what happened to Dick.
